The Carters gave a special salute to the troops this New Year’s Eve. Presenting a screening of their On The Run tour, Beyonce and Jay Z helped thousands of U.S. servicemen and women stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan ring in 2015. Queen Bey also dropped off a personal message.

“I just want to say a big thank you to our troops for everything you do to keep our country safe,” Beyoncé said. “We all sleep better at night knowing that you guys are protecting us, and we’re filled with gratitude.”

The screening was intended as a needed break from their duties while away from their families. Several troops expressed gratitude to the superstar couple for thinking of their service during the holiday.

“The message was heartfelt and it is amazing that someone at her level has the awareness and appreciation for what we do,” SPC Johnson of the 101st BSB 1st Brigade 1ID at Camp Buehring said in a USO press release. The concert is (also) exquisite… the attention to details, the precision, and the energy is the same thing we try to bring into our training.”
