As far as basketball is concerned, things aren’t looking good for the nation’s capital, as the Washington Wizards are down three games to one against the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals. But aside from John Wall’s sparkling future, D.C. has something else to look forward to down the line.

Maybach Music Group’s DMV reps Wale and Fat Trel—Washington’s rap all-stars—are planning on releasing a joint project, according to Trel.

“That’s all D.C. and Maryland been waiting for,” says Fat Trel of the as-yet-untitled project. “We’re definitely going to make that happen. We’ve been working on it. It’s all about the timing.”

Fat Trel and Wale last linked on “In My Bag” from Gleesh, the new MMG recruit’s latest. The 23-year-old rapper says he brings a more fun side out of his elder Chocolate City brethren on the song, which was recorded at Wale’s home in Atlanta.

“We had just woke up and we were eating cereal and playing beats,” remembers Trel of the “In My Bag” beginnings. “That beat had a real playful vibe. We got up and starting dancing, doing all kinds of crazy shit. Wale started saying ‘I’m in my bag’ and I said, ‘Man, that should be the hook.’”

While the duo is sitting on a stash of recorded tracks (“We got a million songs together, but I can’t leak one without him listening to it 10 times [first],” Trel says), Fat Trel is still hard at work on his own proper debut album, one he’s envisioning with a cinematic sheen.

“I want that album to sound like a movie, man,” he says. “I got a lot of music recorded. I’m definitely going to take my time. But I got music that’s album-worthy. I’m just taking it one step at a time.”
