Today Microsoft announced the new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets, along with a series of new accessories. The second version of the Microsoft branded tablet computer is thinner, lighter and faster than its predecessor. The Surface 2 runs on Windows RT 8.1 on an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, has a new 1080p ClearType display and USB 3.0, and will be available in black and silver. The 10.1 inch tablet comes with an improved kick-stand, which now allows for two different positions. The kick-stand was actually already our favorite feature in the first version of the Surface, so we are glad to see it back. The announcement of Touch Cover 2 is also great, the keyboard is now lighter, thinner and comes backlit. Both tablets will release on October 22. You can pre-order them now here.
