Frank Ocean fans, take note. If you’re looking to buy a physical copy of his Def Jam bow, channel ORANGE, don’t go to Target. The retail giant won’t carry the album.

Channel ORANGE made an early debut on iTunes Tuesday morning. Ocean’s decision to give the mp3 behemoth first dibs seems to have angered Target. In a statement to MTV’s Rap Fix, Target confirmed that they vaguely alludes to the iTunes exclusive as a reason for not stocking channel ORANGE.

“At Target, we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, so our selection of new releases is dedicated to physical CDs rather than titles that are released digitally in advance of the street date,” says a rep for Target.

But as MTV’s James Montgomery observes, Target had no trouble making an exception for JAY-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne, which also made an early debut on iTunes.

Naturally, Frank Ocean took to Twitter to voice his displeasure over the “ban.” He tweeted: “Album won’t be available at target. blame it on a generational gap. best buy on deck though.” Ha!

The good news is that channel ORANGE is still up for grabs via iTunes, Best Buy, and other retail stores not named Target. If you’d like to try it before you buy it, go ahead and stream the entire thing here.
